Meet Dr. Jordan Robertson, ND.

CEO of the Confident Clinician

Our Story

You probably imagined a different life after graduation.

Maybe you expected to wake up, pour a coffee and read over the latest journal on how to support your patients, written by someone in your profession. You probably imagined a profession that supported you in your growth, that was leading us all down a path towards more confident and effective care for our patients. You probably expected a profession that was creating benchmarks and guidelines that we would all work towards achieving in our individual practices.

Except that’s not how we do it.

Instead there are thousands of us scrambling between appointments with our patients to stay up to date on our own. You’re left to either read pamphlets from supplement companies or non-integrative journals to figure out where you fit. It’s an industry expectation to spend hours working on treatment plans to find the right thing for each individual patient.

Our founder and CEO, Dr. Jordan Robertson, ND’s path to change the profession has been long and relentless. After designing and implementing courses at McMaster University on evidence-based nutrition and integrative medicine, lecturing to her colleagues and publishing wherever she could, she had a major realization.

We’ve never made continuing education about helping practitioners help their patients.

Educating clinicians was either about the presenter, the sponsor or a checkmark on a continuing education sheet. It was never about learning. It was never about patients actually getting the best of what we have to offer.

“I knew if we were going to change things, we’d have to do it together as a community and alone, without sponsorship. We’d have to honour our educators and value evidence-based care.” ~ Dr. Jordan Robertson,ND

We need the Confident Clinician. So we built it.

In the first year of the program we attracted over 400 clinicians and have a 95% membership renewal rate. We are changing the way we “do” continuing education in our profession. You’ll never attend a lecture where you don’t learn anything. We’re done with sponsored content. We’re done with just getting check marks for credits.

So welcome to our community that is changing the game. A community that is starting a revolution in Integrative and Naturopathic Care. We’re here for you. Let’s change your practice so you can change the lives of your patients.

Dr. Kara is one of only a few Naturopathic Doctors in North America accredited as a North American Menopause Society (NAMS) Certified Practitioner (NCMP).

Dr. Kim Bretz, ND

While Dr. Kim Bretz ND has been practicing for 20 years, the last 13 have been focused with an intense love (obsession?) on the gut and microbiota (the kind where she reads research while drying her hair to make it a more enjoyable way to pass the time).

She is passionate international speaker and adores educating health care professionals. She has worked in consulting & lecturing for numerous companies including Thorne, Designs for Health, Cytomatrix, New Roots Herbal, Rocky Mountain Analytical and Ferring Pharmaceuticals. She also teaches a 3rd year course at the University of Waterloo Pharmacy School in Complementary and Alternative Medicine focusing on interprofessionalism and has been the clinical lead with Spagnuolo research team out of the University of Guelph.

Combining her university background in nutritional sciences with a long-standing interest in health and well-being, Alex has provided nutrition-centered, evidence-informed naturopathic care to her community for over 20 years.

Over that time, her clinic focus has shifted from general practice to issues more commonly experienced by people as they age; arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, generational stresses, and, in particular, cardiovascular disease. In fact, in recent years, Alex would say that the subject has, well, captured her heart. A member of both Hypertension Canada and the National Lipid Association, she especially loves helping people better understand how hypertension and hyperlipidemia affect their current and future cardiovascular risk while developing manageable yet effective strategies to mitigate these same factors.

A (Gretchen Rubin) Questioner who likes to follow rules but needs a good reason to do so, and a Libra who doesn’t believe in astrology but couldn’t be more Libra if she tried, Alex feels very strongly about finding one’s own balance in life. So although she spends too much time debating local politics, researching every single thing that interests her, and worrying if she’ll have time to read all the books she wants to – she’s ok with that.

Dr. Ashley Chauvin, ND
Dr. Ashley Chauvin, ND knew from a young age that she wanted to support patients who had a diagnosis of cancer. Knowing she preferred patient contact to spending time in a lab, Ashley graduated with a degree in Radiation Therapy. During her internship, patients had questions about whether or not natural therapies could effect their overall prognosis. Seeing the impact that diet and lifestyle changes had on her own health led Ashley to become interested in the effectiveness and safety of herbs, supplements and nutrition in combination with chemotherapy and radiation.

She decided to make a career change to be able to support patients who had these questions as well as to bridge the gap between conventional and natural medicine. Ashley attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where she received training in naturopathic adjunctive cancer care as an intern.

Upon graduating from CCNM, she completed a residency program where she received additional training in intravenous therapy, mistletoe therapy and loco regional hyperthermia. Dr. Ashley has worked exclusively in cancer care for most of her career. She has an interest in supporting women who have experienced breast cancer.

Ashley believes in an integrative and evidence based approach. Ashley is also passionate about creating individualized treatment plans to assist in the prevention of primary and recurrent cancers using nutrition, lifestyle, supplements and intravenous therapy.

Ashley supports patients experiencing cancer treatment related side effects like medically induced menopause and fatigue.
